Nintendo Expo Booth
Designed for Nintendo of America, this concept merch booth reimagines retail as an immersive, brand-driven experience within a high-traffic game expo environment. The design integrates multiple Nintendo IPs into a cohesive spatial layout that encourages engagement, supports product visibility, and enhances the overall attendee experience.
Process
The project began with the challenge of unifying four distinct Nintendo IPs into a single, cohesive booth environment while maintaining clear brand recognition for each. Early concept development focused on zoning the space by creating dedicated areas for each IP while ensuring a seamless flow that guided attendees naturally through the booth and toward key retail touchpoints.
I developed the spatial layout with a strong emphasis on circulation, visibility, and product accessibility. High-impact visual elements such as large-scale character cutouts and themed props were strategically placed to draw attention from across the expo floor, while also reinforcing each IP’s identity within its designated zone.
3D modeling and rendering were used to rapidly iterate on concepts and communicate design intent, refining the balance between immersive storytelling and retail functionality. Special attention was given to sightlines, crowd movement, and the placement of merchandise displays to maximize engagement without creating congestion.
The design also considered real-world execution, including modular construction approaches for efficient transport, setup, with box breakdown options and instructions made to installers on construction. Materials, structure, and layout decisions were made with fabrication, durability, and installation in mind.
Through iterative feedback and refinement, the final concept delivers a high-energy, brand-driven environment that supports both experiential engagement and commercial performance by aligning creative vision with the operational demands of a live event setting.
